Happy Fall!
We are now starting to experience the wonderful weather in Phoenix, but I sure do miss those crisp autumn mornings and the beautiful colors of the maple and oak trees. The vibrancy is amazing and also inspiring!
How do the colors around you inspire you? Do you stick with the same color palette all the time? Or do you experiment with different lines of fabric and color combinations? I know when I started quilting it was those VIP mauves and country blues! (I bet some of us still have some of them in our stash or scrap bins!) I try really hard to challenge myself to use a new color or a new fabric line! It is sometimes good to get out of our comfort zone. It can be challenging during the process because we second guess our choices, but 9 out of 10 times we are thrilled with the results!
This month look for some new inspiration! The beautiful colors of the desert, that new line of fabric at the quilt shop or a pattern that you love but is I bit out of your comfort zone! You will be amazed at the sense of accomplishment you feel when it’s done! Think outside the box! Be inspired! It’s just like trying that new recipe you will make at Thanksgiving! You risk that everyone will love it! Take a risk with your quilting too!
For those of you who are looking for a new mystery – watch for Bonnie Hunter’s new Quiltville mystery! It is free! The colors will be announced soon, and the fun will begin the day after Thanksgiving. Her color palette may be challenging and may not be in your comfort zone, but the end results of her mysteries are pretty amazing! Her blocks have many pieces, but if you do them according to her detailed instructions, even a beginner can succeed! You can find the info sometime late October on her blog: https://quiltville.blogspot.com. She shares the mystery annually because she wants to give those who don’t have family and friends to spend the holiday season with something to keep busy with and she loves giving to all quilters!
If I don’t see you at the November meeting, I hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving with friends and family.
Happy Quilting!
